Notes

ZIST returns with STATIC EYE, a new album released by Almost Halloween Time Records and Cruel Records.

Eighteen songs from a place where reality has lost its shape but stubbornly keeps going.

STATIC EYE is filled with people inside cages, burning houses, streets turned into beds, boats that never pass again, spiders becoming vehicles for escape, tiny creatures suddenly growing enormous, amateur gods sitting on a bench, and dimensional flowers rescued from forests on fire.

It is a record of bodies, heads, veins, blood, smoke, mirrors and eyes that can no longer see. But it is also about very simple desires: to be satisfied, to be reached, to say hello, to keep the lifestyle you need, to find someone to shine with.

In “Lifestyle”, the plea to keep the life we have slowly becomes an inability to look that life in the face. “Feed” takes the head underwater, searching for something that can still be thought. “Swamp Morning” runs through swamps, burning houses and the corners of the mind. “Bug” turns escape into a ride on an insect, while “Spider” builds a giant web in which to run away from yourself.

Then there is “Firedblues”, where prayers are black as mud; “Big”, where a multitude of tiny beings suddenly becomes enormous; and “Amateur Gods”, a strange little theatre of improvised divinities, masks and ordinary gestures.

A flower survives a prison. A boatman waits for ships that will never pass again. A conversation offers no transmission and no salvation. A school teaches us how to breathe again. A guitar is covered in glue. Love becomes something that sticks, even when nobody knows why.

STATIC EYE does not look for a clean way out.
It keeps running instead.
