Chris Smith made Cabin Fever in 1998, at the beginning of his solo work, after years spent moving through the Australian underground and its many parallel worlds. His music has always seemed to resist the idea of staying inside one room. Rock can become noise. Noise can become landscape. A guitar can become a machine, a weather system, a distant light.
Almost Halloween Time Records reissued the album on vinyl in 2020.
And now I am slowly painting each of the 107 covers, one by one.
