”Parerga und Paralipomena” is the title of the very last addition to the Almost Halloween Time Records catalog and family. A split cassette between two of my heroes: Gary Alien and Nutrition Fun.
”Parerga und Paralipomena” is also the title of a collection of philosophical reflections by Arthur Schopenhauer, appendices and omissions to the theories of the german philosopher.
A very demanding title.
Gary Alien and Nutrition Fun’s reflections on life, suicide, rebirth, broken statuettes, articulated prepositions, losses, bewilderment and death sentences. are recorded on this tape.
If Gary Alien would not have left earth without carrying with him a bunch of Nutrition Fun cassettes as a soundtrack for his intergalactic journey, Nutrition Fun swears that he knew from the beginning what Gary Alien would have become because he always were.
Of the first you have already been able to appreciate ”Landing” a collection of songs that was released last year and the cover of ”Going To Spain” included in the Imaginary Donkey compilation.
Of the last only two songs have appeared until today on Almost Halloween Time Records, ”Down In Denver” included in ”Crock Rot” compilation and Mauvais Sang included in ”It’s Halloween Time” compilation.
Nutrition Fun really needs no introduction because I’m sure you own at least one of his fabulous tapes on Unread Records, Gary Alien has also a bunch of other releases on his own I Can’t Be A Musician record label.
As every release on Almost Halloween Time Records, and I’m not joking, every single copy of this release, and I’m not exaggerating or overestimating, will feature a unique hand painted artwork on which Dostoyevsky, Schopenhauer or flying saucers or a combination of them will make their appearance.
