Notes
A psychedelic bridge between Ohio, Italy, and the unknown: “You Set the Scene and Fly in” is the improbable yet magnetic split EP that unites three seemingly distant worlds under the banner of raw, authentic sonic exploration. This exceptional collaborative record brings together three unique musical forces. It features Mitch Mitchell, the chainsmoking, arm-swirling, legendary former guitarist of Guided by Voices, who brings his visceral, noisy Dayton, Ohio energy to the project. Joining him are Clever Square, the Italian indie rock campfighters and champions of an oblique, nostalgic sound that perfectly channels ’90s college rock. Rounding out the lineup are Lac Observation, the nomadic psych-pop hole dwellers who are as elusive as they are fascinatingly trippy.
In true underground fashion, this release doesn’t chase mainstream playlists, standing instead as a genuine cult artifact brought to life through the joint efforts of three independent labels: it is available in limited quantities on CD-R via Cruel Records and Hvergelmir Records.
For vinyl enthusiasts, a very limited 10” lathe-cut vinyl is being pressed by Almost Halloween Time Records, a label world-renowned for its signature hand-painted covers that make every single physical copy a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of art.
