On the 25 de Abril Bridge, I felt a wave of vertigo—afraid I might tumble 70 meters down into the Tagus for an unplanned swim. Under the bridge I could hear the roar of traffic it was overwhelming, and for a moment I even imagined a car breaking loose above me. If I ever return to Lisbon, I think I’ll choose a different way in.
Road To Lisbon is the third installment in the compilation series featuring collaborations between Almost Halloween Time Records’ artists..
The collaborations come together by chance: the participants’ names are placed in an urn, and pairings are drawn at random.
This edition welcomes several first-time contributors, including Mark (Good Horsey, Capozzi Park), Lucia (La Festa delle Rane, Lac Observation), Gianlorenzo (Lac Observation), Giorgio Cuscito (Violent Scenes), Dimitriam (Golden Boots), Plundershop, Matrimony’s Facade, Melody Kriesel, and Chris Foreman (4 min).
Others are returning for their second appearance: C. Worth, Eric Morrison (Home, Leels), Linda Smith, Lonnie Eugene Methe, and Will Simmons.
And then there are the stalwarts who haven’t missed a single edition: Wio (de portables, Guest Appearance), Little Whirls, Joel Huschle (Furniture Huschle, Wckr Spgt), Lovers Turn To Monsters, Jake Anderson (Celesteville, Spirit Duplicator, Yak &), Jeff Fuccillo (Hochenkeit, Irving Klaw Trio), Rick Goosewind, Jürgen De Blonde (de portables, Köhn, Ed Nolbed, Guest Appearance), Caleb Fraid, Elton Wong (GG), BBJR, Doo Crowder, Dane Sybrant (The Debts), Bryon Allison (Kids Of The Atomic Age), GHOS (I AM THE LAKE OF FIRE, A John Henry Memorial), and John Davis (Folk Implosion).
A special word about Mark Szabo: his return is something I’ve been hoping for years. Mark hasn’t released new music in a long time, so his presence on this compilation is not only a surprise but a real joy.
The mastering was handled by Chris Foreman at Swampshack Studios. I couldn’t have done it without him—and with his help, maybe one day I’ll even give the bridge another chance.
