What am I doing in a cave?
And why is Simon Joyner there too?
We’re surrounded by bottles of wine.
I feel like I’ve been here before.
It’s the Cantine Polvanera cave, we are in Gioia del Colle.
We’re beneath winery and the air is good.
Simon Joyner picks up his guitar and starts playing. I have all his records, but I’ve never seen him play live. Someone is filming the scene; they’re holding a video camera, and there are even microphones; they’re recording…
No, it wasn’t a dream, it really happened
Antonio Stea filmed the session, Gianvito Novielli recorded the audio.
That day, I fell in love with Antonio and Gianvito, I fell in love with Giorgio and Stand Alone Complex, and I fell in love with a bottle of Primitivo 17 from Cantine Polvanera. All these relationships continue to this day!
The video, that is released today, is part of VHS-C Session, an anti-digital format shot with an old VHS-C cassette camera. Silence, stone, ancient shadows, and a voice that resonates outside of time: a fragile fragment of pure magic.
The session is also available on cassette on Almost Halloween Time Records here.
